Everything you see in GED-VIEW can be taken out of it, and everything is generated in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server to be rendered.

Formats

  • PDF. Lists and charts formatted for paper. List exports are real text, not screenshots, so they are searchable and a very large file exports without running the browser out of memory. On the Events page there are two densities: Comfortable (larger text, fewer rows per page) and Compact. Before a large PDF starts, GED-VIEW estimates the page count and asks if it is going to be huge.
  • PNG. The tree, the charts, and the map as an image.
  • Excel and CSV. Tables (people, families, events, sources) for a spreadsheet.
  • ICS calendar files. Birthdays and anniversaries, importable into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. Three separate exports: birthdays of living people, birthdays of deceased people, and death anniversaries, so you can subscribe to exactly the set you want.
  • Per-person summary. On the Sources page, for any one person: every fact, with its citations, page references, quality ratings and transcribed text. The "show my work" document.

Filters carry through

An export contains what is on screen. Filter the Events page to one branch's deaths in one county, and that is what goes on paper.

File names

Exports are named after the report, the row count, and the date.

Recent exports are kept

Every export is kept in your browser for 14 days on the Exports page, so you can re-download it instantly. After that, just generate the export again.
